Nine minutes later and Jacob Dodds raced onto a through ball and lobbed the ball from twenty yards into the net.

Dodds fired at Bartlett as did Thomson, for the first of three corners.

Brocton won a corner in the 43rd minute and Paul McMahon bundled thin to reduce the arrears.

Tom Bates and Dodds both had chances for Sphinx who had lost Lewis Rankin to an ankle injury at the break

In the second half, Brocton hit the post through Jack Edwards and won two corners in the 54th minute.

A Bates cross in the 57th minute was cleared up to Matt Dean who crossed for Paul McMahon to come and score from close range.

Dodds got in two shots provided by Wilson for a Sphinx side which was making some superb tackles.

Bates went close in a game where Brocton were only not down to ten men thanks to the generosity of the referee.

With fifteen minutes left, Sphinx went behind when substitute Sean Kinsella was allowed room to fire a shot into the net.

Brocton won a 79th minute corner and Paul McMahon bundled in to send Sphinx to a 4-2 defeat.
