Coventry Sphinx ended their Midland Alliance campaign with a 3-1 victory at Alvechurch.

Having beaten Cradley and Coleshill Town, Sphinx travelled hoping to give their manager Paul Charnley a victory on his send off day.

In a bizarre first half, Alvechurch had two players sent off but led at the break through a 43rd minute Chris Sterling goal.

Church were down to eight men in the seconde half and Sphinx went for broke. Jerome Murdock equalised in the 70th minute with Kyle Rhodes adding a second five minutes later.

In the 84th minute, Gary Mead wrapped up a final farewell for Paul Charnley who steps down after three and a half years in charge as manager of Sphinx and a spell that sees him as the most successful manager of modern times, when he added a third.

Sphinx finished the season in seventh place with 74 points from their 42 matches.
