Coventry Sphinx ‎picked up their first away league win of the season with a super 4-2 win at AFC Wulfrunians.
At the Castlecroft Stadium on the West Midlands\Staffordshire border, Luke Hopkins changed his side from the one which had lost at Heath Hayes for a game which went ahead thanks to good work from the groundsman, who used a super-soaker in order to get the match on.

On a blowy afternoon and after a minute's silence to remember those who had served this country, the Wolverhampton based side won a second minute corner which was cleared.

Rickie Cutting tried to attack but Wulfrunians broke through Stevenson who sent a sixth minute cross from the left over to Nathan Rowe-Lang, who volleyed home from five yards.

Sphinx were on the back foot, having to clear a corner and O'Neill pushing away a King effort before Stevenson fired wide in the 15th minute.

‎Sphinx won their first corner in the 23rd minute but that was cleared and led to a King shot at the other end.

Another King shot led to two 25th minute corners before Kyle Baxter limped off and had to be replaced by Matty Taylor.

Wulfrunians won another corner before‎ Sphinx were denied a free kick on the edge of the area when Lewis Bishop was sent crashing.

King had a shot on the break saved ‎before the half ended.

Sphinx got stuck in straight away with a Cutting cross being scrambled off the line by a defender which led to a 47th minute corner.

That led to the ball coming back in from the far side for Jason Dodds to flick into the net and delight the Sphinx travelling support.

Cutting rounded the keeper and Sphinx won a corner as Luke Hopkins side started to get in their tackles.

Persistence from Dainty saw Dodds fire over but in the 62nd minute, the referee missed a foul on a Sphinx player and allowed the home side to break with the ball coming across for King to slot past O'Neill.

Sphinx's reply was immediate. Rickie Cutting attacked straight from the kick off and rounded the keeper before firing past two defenders to draw Sphinx level for a second time.

In the 69th minute. Downes had a free kick. The former Leicester City youngster sent over a brilliant ball for Ashley Wilks to send into the net.

O'Neill made a good save as this highly ‎ entertaining game headed towards its conclusion. ‎
The referee failed to spot a handball which may have given the home side a penalty but ‎in the final minute, Kyle Jaynes was sent on his way. The home keeper slipped and Jaynes fired into an empty net to give Sphinx their first away win of the season.‎
