Coventry Sphinx and Coventry United have issued the following joint statement:

Coventry Sphinx Football Club are delighted to announce that following an approach from the Chairman of Coventry United Jason Kay they have agreed to share their facilities at Sphinx Drive for the 2015-16 season.

Coventry Sphinx FC, Chairman Dannie Cahill commented. "Coventry United look likely to be promoted from Division 2 in the Midland Football League and to compete in Division 1 they need to play their home games with facilities that meet league requirements. Thankfully, we have what's needed and we are pleased to be able to help them out. Cahill was quick to rule out rumours that they are merging. Both clubs have dedicated personnel with different visions and objectives and that won't change. We wish them well....

Coventry United FC, Chairman Jason Kay commented......
"Coventry United's potential back-to-back progression through the leagues is an absolute delight for our club and our supporters but has caused ground grading issues which needed to be resolved faster than first anticipated.

The cage sadly doesn't meet the criteria for MFL D1 football and if we get promoted the board and I need to be 100% confident and ready to meet the leagues requirements,  allowing Coventry United to get promoted without any issues.

Coventry United are delighted to be playing in Coventry for the 2015/16 season and wish to thank Coventry Sphinx for their courtesy, we wish them well for the remainder of the season and every success for the next season.

I'm absolutely sure non-league football in Coventry will continue to thrive and we will continue to invest heavily in our club to ensure Coventry United is competing for promotion once again next season"
