Ricky Baker gave Tipton a fifth minute lead and three minutes into the second half, that was doubled by a Lee Osbourne goal.
Arron Donaldson scored a consolation goal for Sphinx in the 81st minute.
Sphinx are at home on Tuesday night in a re-arranged game to Rocester. Kick Off at Sphinx Drive is at 7.45pm and admission is £5 for adults, £2.50 concessions and free for U16's.
Sphinx Youth have been rewarded for their 3-0 League Cup victory over Stroud on Thursday night with a trip to Hinckley United.
