Coventry City U18's pulled off an excellent victory in beating Arsenal 3-2 at the Alan Higgs Centre this morning.

First team requirements meant changes for the Sky Blues from the team that had run Leicester so close on Tuesday, but it did not affect the battling spirit.

In the 13th minute, City took a deserved lead when Jacob Blackwell created space on the right and delivered a telling cross for Josh Ruffles to head in from seven yards.

Arsenal, who were without their England internationals, might have been well clear at the top of their division but Steve Bould's side did not threaten Lee Burge in the City goal.

On the half hour mark, Luke Adams let rip with a screamer which deflected for a corner. That was initially cleared but Gael Bigirama got the ball back and found Josh Ruffels who lashed a storming shot into the net.

Arsenal sorted themselves out and attacked. In the 55th minute, the visitors pulled one back thanks to Josh Rees being given space to head in from six yards.

The goal upset Luke Bottomer who kicked out after whilst trying to retrieve the ball and was sent off.

Arsenal briefly capitalised when Zac Ansah, son of Actor Andy Ansah, broke through and flicked the ball past Lee Burke with his right foot.

Back came City and they won a 75th minute. There was substitute Jamie Spencer to bundle the ball over the line and give City a deserved win.
