MATCH OFFICIALS

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City’s League One game against Shrewsbury Town is Chris Sarginson from Staffordshire.

He was appointed to the Select Group of Assistant Referees in 2005 and was appointed to the National List of Referees in 2008. He cites the Sunderland v Newcastle game in 2005 as the best game he has officiated at due to the atmosphere.

His last City game was the 3-1 home defeat by Crewe at the Ricoh Arena in April 2015 and the three other City games he has been in charge of are: the 2-1 defeat to Swindon Town at Sixfields on April 18th 2014. The other two games he has been in charge of are the 2-1 win at Sheffield United on February 1st 2013 and the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City at the Ricoh Arena on December 18th 2010.

Coventry famously gave 2-Tone music to the world. Spawning bands like The Specials, The Selecter, Madness and The Beat. 2-Tone music, as influential as it was, is only a small reflection of the vast musical talents that Coventry can lay claim to.

At the Coventry Music Museum, we tell the real story of our musical heritage, going right back to the Roman occupation. We stop along the way at Music Hall, 50’s Rock’ N’ Roll, the 60’s Beat scene and we even have the Lennon Bench, commemorating the famous ‘Acorns for Peace’ event.

There’s the 70’s, when Coventry ruled the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Our 80’s area celebrates Hazel O’Connor, The Primitives and of course, King.

In the 90’s we go all Bhangra, then we celebrate Dave Willetts in Phantom of the Opera (we even have his original Phantom mask).

Now it’s The Enemy‘s time, with many unique items from Coventry’s current hit-makers here on display. Not forgetting new talent, with our Artist of The Month!

Bar and cafe available.
