Warwicks Beat Leicestershire

Warwickshire County Cricket Club played their final Friends Provident game of the season against Leicestershire today.

Whilst, there was heavy rain in Coventry, at Oakham School in Leicestershire, the weather was much better.



Warwicks batted first and made 187-8 in 49 overs. Tony Frost top scored with 55, Poonia hit 45 and Ant Botha 27.

Leicester batted next in this Friends Provident game and were 53-2 before rain stopped play which gave Warwicks a win by eight runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method..

In the Test Match at Old Trafford, England won the second Test against New Zealand with a six wicket victory. England resumed on 76-1 and had Andrew Strauss in great form.

He made 106 from 186 balls whilst skipper Michael Vaughan chipped in with 48. Ian Bell was 21 not out as Paul Collingwood hit the winning runs just before the tea interval.

The third test is at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in ten days time.
