Jon Trott hit a century as Warwickshire had a mid-innings collapse but fought back against Yorkshire at Edgbaston.

Warwicks started day three on 81-1 and quickly lost Ian Bell for 37. That started a mini-collapse with Warwicks losing the wickets of Westwood, Troughton, Ambrose and Clarke in the space of nineteen runs to leave the score at 138-6.

Trott kept his head and batted well to reach his century with thirteen fours. He was part of a ninth wicket stand which passed the 156 mark and beat an eighty year old record for Warwickshire, who again got maximum batting points. He finished the day unbeaten on 140.

Jeetan Patel, made the high score ever from a Warwicks number ten and was in equally as good form, beating Ashley Giles record with a score of 89 not out as Warwicks closed on 422-8.

In the test match at Lords, England beat the West Indies by ten wickets. England skittled the visitors out for 252 with Graham Swann and Stuart Broad taking three wickets apiece.

This left England needing only 32 runs to win and Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook polished that total off after the first ball of the seventh over.
