Marlon Devonish finished third in this afternoon's Aviva Grand Prix Men's 200m event at a very damp Gateshead International Stadium.

The 33-year-old Coventry Godiva Olympic relay gold medallist began well but was overtaken in the closing stages by eventual winner America's 2004 Olympic champion Shawn Crawford and Wallace Spearman.

Crawford ran 20.80secs, a mere 0.1 faster his fellow American Spearman while Devonish clocked 21.07.

He later returned to the track an hour later to finish third in the men's 100 B race in 10.49 while fellow Brit Craig Pickering won in 10.32.

Devonish also competed at the mega-rich Weltklasse meeting in Zurich last Thursday where he finished 8th in the men's 100 B race and then later helped his Great Britain team to fourth in the men's 4 by 100m relay.

The Jamaican team powered on the final leg by the fastest man in the world Usian Bolt, a very close friend of Stoke City's Ricardo Fuller, won smashing the meet record in 37.70secs.
