Strachan Foundation- School Leavers Trials

The Strachan Football Foundation are hosting  2 days of trials at Rugby Town JFC , Kilsby Lane for school leavers and any 16-18 year olds looking for a career in the football industry and football coaching.  The trials will include training and team based classroom activities throughout the trial days. And Interviews with Strachan Football Foundation staff.

On the day you will have the opportunity to be coached by SFF coaches George Mackie, Dan Elliott, Chay Thompson and guest appearance from former Aston Villa U21’s manager Kevin McDonald.

Dan Elliott Founder / Director of the Foundation spoke of the progress the foundation is making, “To think of the progress made in under 3 years we train at a multi-million pound purpose built football facility, we have 4 teams playing week in week out from u18′s to u21′s, have gained a place in the ECFA (English Colleges) National Premier League playing the top teams in college football. We have produced our first professional player in Luke Leahy who signed a two year contract at Falkirk FC in Scotland and have had 4 lads trial at Nottingham Forest U21’s in the summer of 2013. We have also delivered over 230 qualifications in under 3 years. Working with primary schools in the area has been another major success our 2nd annual primary schools tournament in May was a great experience for all involved and was attended by 14 schools in Rugby and surrounding areas.”Another achievement has been the success of our learners finding employment Sports Coaching in the UK and overseas. We have had 4 former apprentices earn 9 month contracts in the USA working for Evolution Soccer Programmes and this number will increase up to 15 coaches for 2014.

In partnership with ofsted grade 1 “Outstanding” Heart of England Training, Strachan Football Foundation offers 16-18 the opportunity to continue their education and develop as a footballer whilst gaining qualifications in sport, sports coaching , sports development, Literacy and Numeracy. The foundation offers young people an alternative to College and 6th form working in a way that suits the needs of young people. SFF have built links with universities and coaching companies in the USA to provide jobs and opportunities of scholarships and have a number of links to professional clubs in the UK.
