Sastre Wins The Tour De France

This really is Spain's year as Spaniard Carlos Sastre won the 95th Tour De France which finished in Paris this afternoon.

The CSC rider,known as the patient man, won the stage at Alpe D'Huez on Wednesday and his time, plus a good performance in yesterday's time trial. was enough to ensure that he was on the podium in Paris wearing the Maillot Jaune. Cadel Evans was second with Kohl third.

In what had been a thrilling race for the last three weeks, 145 competitors including Britain's David Millar who was fifth in yesterday's time trial, finished.

Gert Steegmans won the 21st and final stage.

Other jersey winners were Green Jersey - Oscar Freire, King Of The Mountains Bernard Kohl and White Jersey for Young Rider Andy Schleck. CSC won the Team Classification award.

Next year's tour starts in Monaco on July 4th.
