Early Start For Bendall

Coventry boxer Steve Bendall has an early start for his defence of his English Middleweight Belt against Darren McDermott tonight.

The Southpaw from Tile Hill goes into the ring at 7.10pm at the Birmingham NIA tonight on a big bill.

This is a fight that Bendall knows he must win as it could give him a re-match with Wayne Elcock or a crack at a WBO title.

"The pressure is on again and that is the way I like it," said Bendall to Matt Bozeat "I'm in the same position I was before the Smith fight - I know I have to win.

"I'm training hard and I'm convinced I'm going to have too much for McDermott. He hasn't mixed in the same class as me."

A Covsupport News Service will be at the fight and we'll have details of how Steve gets on shortly after the fight.
