Coventry Sphinx were held 2-2 by Nuneaton Griff at home tonight in a Midweek Floodlit Youth League fixture.

John Woodward's side took the lead in the 23rd minute thanks to Luke Elvridge firing home with a right footed shot.

On the stroke of half-time and in their first attack of the game, Griff equalised when Aaron Donaldson's shot crept into the net off a Sphinx defender.

In the 67th minute, Donaldson scored again when he made the most of a defensive but the lead last only two minutes as a Danny Pittaway shot fell for top scorer Gianni Dainty who skipped round a defender before drilling the ball into the net from eight yards for his seventh game of the season.

Sphinx, who travel to Stourbridge on monday, had chances at the end of the game but had to settle for a victory.
