Coventry Sphinx went down to a single goal home defeat.

Against an Alvechurch side which had beat Sphinx 5-0 in the FA Vase last season. Paul Charnley's side had a couple of good chances early on.

Tom Cudworth curled over with a 25 yard free kick and in the tenth minute,Tom McGuire on his first start, made a great tackle and raced for thirty yards before firing a low shot which Mark Garvey did well to save.

In the 17th minute,Robbie Scott headed wide from a cross from the left with Callum Woodward forcing Garvey into another save two minutes later.

Callum Harrison had a fine game in goal for Sphinx. Early in the second half, he fisted over a Rosthill drive and then made a brave stop as Rostill beat the offside trap.

In the 53rd minute,Harrison pushed over a Scott Richards header for a corner. When the flag kick came in,the ball crashed against the bar and fell for Liam O'Shea to bundle home.

Both sides had chances with Tom Cudworth and Jamie Holmes having to clear their lines and a screamer from the hard working Dave Drennan being pushed over by Garvey in the 72nd minute.

Seven minutes from time,Dave Drennan struck a post and in the last seconds Lee Chilton struck the bar as the visitors took the points.

Coventry Sphinx are out of the FA Youth Cup. Gianni Dainty and Declan Price scored for John Woodward's side but Stone Dominoes on their home ground scored seven times.
