Coventry Blaze Lose On Penalties In Belfast

Coventry Blaze were beaten on penalties at Belfast Giants tonight.

With three minutes of the opening period remaining, Derek Campbell & Brad Leeb fired the Blaze into a two goal lead.

There was 16:46 left to go in the second period when Stephen Chalmers scored a powerplay goal to give the Blaze a 3-0 lead.

Mark Garside, assisted by Davey Phillips pulled one back for Belfast.

Into the third and the Blaze attacked with Murphy making some good saves but with 9.10 to go, Greg Stewart scored a powerplay goal to reduce the arrears.followed by  Kevin Saurette slamming home to tie the game.

With no more goals, it was over time, then penalties. Both net minders made good stops but Bobby Sandrock scored the decisive penalty to give Belfast the win on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
