Warwickshire County Cricket Club could be playing cricket at a site near the Ricoh Arena if plans for a £32m development at Edgbaston are rejected by Birmingham City Council.

Coventry City Council have made a bid for a 25,000 capacity cricket stadium capable of staging Test match cricket close to the Ricoh Arena and Councillor Kevin Foster told the CT: "I know Warwickshire County Cricket Club are looking to deliver a world class stadium for the 21st century and I would love to see them play a part in our city's transformation.

"In Coventry, we regularly go into bat for our city. I hope we will get the chance to do so for Warwickshire too."

The bid is backed by business leaders.
