Copsewood Ladies ended 2013 with an 8-1 victory over Coundon Court in the 3rd round of the Birmingham County Cup.
With players unavailable, manager Ryan Conneely was able to give much needed starts to several players and earn them some important game time.
It didnt take long for Copsewood to take the lead as Kirstie Deacon was played through by Leah Williams and she slotted the ball past the Coundon keeper.
The home side continued to have more of possession and were rewarded as Sarah Rowles bagged a quick fire brace and Melissa Young notched up her 7th goal of the season.
Just before half time though Copsewood were given a wake up call as the Coundon stiker was able to race through on goal and she produced a fine finish to place the ball over Hannah Jones in goal.
The second half saw Copsewood start at a slow pace and almost gifted another goal to the away side but on the hour mark they finally stepped their play up and Rowles was able to complete her hat trick. Williams then got on the scoresheet herself before Natalie Dean rounded things off by scoring another 2.
All in all it was a nice way for Copsewood to round off the year. Full applause must go to the young Coundon Court team who were a credit to themselves but it is Copsewood who will look forward to the quarter final draw.
