Coventry City Ladies were back to winning way with a 2-1 home win against Curzon Ashton at Coventry Sphinx.
Paul Cudby (pictured below - right with Barry Powell) made one change from the team beaten by Aston Villa on Thursday night with England U19 international Callen Barber returning to the starting eleven.
The opening exchanges were lively with the visitors creating corners and the Sky Blues having Barber head a corner in to the side netting after Crissy Torkildsen had limped off with a shin injury and to be replaced by Nat Wilcox.
Helen Dermody (pictured below wearing number 11) won a tenth minute corner which bounced around the area and Katy Male sent a free kick over the bar eight minutes later as the Sky Blues continued to play positively.
The industrious Dermody fired wide in the 20th minute before Bracewell made two great reaction blocks to deny first Barber and then Dermody. The visitors had done nothing but in the 24th minute, they took the lead when Butler failed to head clear close to the centre circle and Issy Haynes was picked out on the right to tear down the right before beating Wood from just inside the area.
Barber, Formaston and Dermody kept Bracewell busy before Milly Durrant picked out Karen Clough on the right side of the area and a lethal finish meant City were deservedly level.
A 39th minute City corner was headed off the line by Harrop and Bracewell made a finger tip save as the half ended with the Sky Blues on top.
From the restart and the sun now shining on Sphinx Drive, Stacey Marsden just missed the far post with a back header from a free kick and Haynes failed to capitalise on a Butler back header and fired over with only Wood to beat.
Wood held a 54th minute piledriver from Hindley as Curzon seized the early momentum.Kirsty Robson fired the wrong side of the post in the 67th minute. City kept going and were rewarded in the 75th minute whe Karen Clough bundled home a cross from the left with both boots.
Jade Formaston, who worked hard along with the rest of her team-mates created a corner, sent a telling cross across the area and had an 84th minute shot pushed round by Bracewell for a corner.
City are away to Leeds next Sunday.
