The Team Colombia rider had become the first ever Brit to win four stages in the world famous race but with the Tour heading for the Mountains including Alpe D'Huez, Cavendish decided to call it a day to concentrate on the build up to the Olympics in Beijing where he will face for Team GB in the Madison.
