Blaze Torn Apart By Panthers

Coventry Blaze were beaten 4-0 at home by Nottingham Panthers tonight.

At a packed Sky Dome tonight including 300 visitors from Nottingham, the Blaze who won 9-7 at Hull Stingrays last night, took to the ice wearing special Christmas shirts and within ninety seconds of the start, Carlyle Lewis had got into a fight with Danny Stewart involved in another shortly after.

By the third minute of the opening period, three Nottingham Panthers players were in the penalty box but they got back to the ice and there was no score at the end of the first period.

There was a fans fancy dress competition at the break won by a couple of six month old santas.

The second period was less physical but saw the Blaze trail by first a sloppy goal and then an error by JF Perras to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead against a very subdued looking Blaze side.

It seemed as though the credit crunch has yet to hit the Sky Dome with bids of over £250 for a one off shirt during the interval which also saw some Turkey Bowling.

Two more goals for the visitors in the third period saw most of the home support get up and leave. The few who remained were given sweets by the players but this was scant reward for a gutless performance.

On Friday, the Blaze travel to Cardiff Devils. Face off is now at 6pm.
