Blaze Smashed For Eight

Coventry Blaze were beaten 8-0 at home tonight by Nottingham Panthers in an Elite League game.

Against a weakened Blaze side, the Panthers were straight on the attack and were ahead on 1.49 through David Ling.

On 6.23, Robert Lachowicz hit a second and twenty one seconds later, Eric Wiener added a third.

Before the end of the first period, it was four when Ling scored his second of the night.

There was no fightback from the Blaze and Nottingham scored twice in the second period through Bruce Graham on 25.21 and Kelsey Wilson on 38.37.

Goal number seven came on 53. 53 with a powerplay goal for Matt Fiends and the humiliation was complete on 56.02 when Brandon Benedict gave the Panthers an 8-0 win at the Sky Dome.
