Blaze Beaten In Play-Off Semis

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team were beaten by Nottingham Panthers 6-2 at the Nottingham Arena this evening.

Needing a win to meet Sheffield Steelers in tomorrow's final, The Blaze conceded three goals in the opening period.

Bruce Richardson had Nottingham ahead with a powerplay goal on 8.19 before Brendan Cook added a second on 11.14.

Two became three on 13.51 when Corey Neilson fired home but on 19.37, Danny Stewart pulled one back for Coventry.

Into the second and a loose puck on 27. 53 was smashed home by David Clarke to make it 4-1 to the home side, who then went another goal in front on 29.25 when Bruce Richardson netted his second of the night.

In what will be his last game for the Blaze, Barrie Moore scored a powerpay goal on 30.39 but Kevin Bergin hit his 29th goal of the season on 44.20 to ensure that it would be a silverware-less season for the Blaze.
