Blaze Beat Belfast In Over-Time

Coventry Blaze beat the Belfast Giants 5-4 in over time in an Elite League fixture tonight.

At the Sky Dome, there were no goals in the opening period but in the second, Belfast took the lead on 30.52 when Noah Clarke, scored, assisted by Stewart and Peacock.

Four minutes and one second later and Coventry were level when Dustin Cameron found the net, assisted by Mike Beleskey.

A further forty seven later, Belfast were back in front thanks to an unassisted Andrew Fournier goal and on 38.48, Fournier had made 3-1 when he netted, assisted by Rycroft and Mason.

In to the third and with the Blaze on the powerplay, Brad Leeb scored for Coventry, assisted by Mike Schutte and Mike Beleskey. Then on 43.35, parity was restored when Mike Schutte scored, assisted by Shea Guthrie.

Three all became four all when Brad Leeb scored an unassisted fourth goal for the Blaze on 49.08 but The Giants came back and equalised through Jeff Mason on 51.10 with a powerplay goal, assisted by Peacock and Sandrock and sent the game into over-time.

Only 2.39 was needed for Brad Leeb to give Coventry a 5-4 win, assisted by Greg Leeb.
