Coventry City Ladies midfielder Helen Dermody has won Coventry University's award for 'best female in sport' this evening.
Dermody, who is known for her trade mark free kicks which have helped the Sky Blues win back to back promotions is City Ladies' first scholar from Coventry University who normally only sponsor athletes at a premiership level.
She has recently completed her second year at the University and received her award at a ceremony tonight.
Coventry University took a leap of faith three years ago when the club first discussed scholarships with them and thanks to Helen's success, Coventry City Ladies will be able to offer more scholarship schemes to players .
