Bendall Beaten On Points

Steve Bendall lost his English Middleweight title tonight when he was defeat on points by Darren McDermott at the NIA in Birmingham.

The southpaw from Tile Hill was rattled on three occasions in the first and then pinned to the ropes early in the second by a straight right and is was only by digging deep that he survived into the third round.

By Round Four, Bendall was struggling to get through as McDermott was easily able to catch him in the face.

He did retain his composure but McDermott continued to get through in the fifth round with head shots.

McDermott was proving too strong for the fighter who has been training at the Red Gym in Walsgrave Road and was awarded the fight at the end of the eighth round by 97-94.
