Coventry Bees beat Peterborough Panthers 50-40 tonight at Brandon but it was not enough to win the Hokey-Cokey Cup.

With the British Speedway Promoters Association confirming the Bees place in the Elite League with the following statement: "The BSPA and Coventry and Peterborough are delighted to announce that both teams will return to the Elite League in 2011. Coventry and Peterborough accept that things said in the heat of the moment could have been avoided.

"For the sake of British Speedway and more importantly its fans... we are all committed to moving on and working together for the future.’
Allen Trump accepts that he said things in the heat of the moment which could have been avoided in relation to the BSPA and certain named individual members.", Coventry took on Peterborough looking to over turn a 32 point loss from the first leg on Thursday night.

A slightly changed Bees line up lost the opening heat 5-1 but Richard Sweetman and Nick Morris rode for a 5-1 to level the scores.

The Panthers took the third heat 5-1 but Ed Kennet rode well in heat four for a 4-2 to the Bees.

A re-run heat five finished three and with the Bees winning heat six 4-2, the scores were now tied at 18-18.

Two 3-3's followed before Ryan Fisher and Kenni Fisher rode for a 5-1 to give the Bees the lead for the first time over the two legs.

After Heat ten was tied, Peterborough won the next two heats 4-2 before a cracking rider from Kennett, along with Anderson coming from last to second earned the Bees a 5-1.

Sixteen year old Nick Morris rode brilliantly to gain a second consecutive 5-1 and a 4-2 win in the final heat meant that the Bees were 50-40 winners on the night but lost 80-102 overall.
