Bees Postponed!

Following the decision late last week to drop tonights match between the Reading and the Coventry Bees from live Sky TV coverage, the match itself has now been postponed.
This decision was made on Saturday 16th June with Reading citing the reasons behind this as '
negotiations for a change in ownership of the club being at an advanced stage'.

Understandably this has brought an angry response from the Bees management, with Coventry owner Avtar Sandhu quoted as saying "I cannot express strongly enough how disgusted I am with this situation. It makes a complete mockery of the sport, and I have spoken to the management at Reading to tell them my feelings.
"They might be going through a takeover, but since when does that give anyone a reason to call off a match? Would we see a football club calling off a fixture because of negotiations to change their ownership? It just would not happen.
"We have riders who had already made their plans to fly in from Poland and other parts of Europe for this meeting and now we're being told it's off - with (Readings) Greg Hancock not coming back from America!
"I am absolutely appalled by what is going on, and we will be taking the matter up with the BSPA on Monday. We have already had the situation with Oxford, which has cost ourselves and other clubs several points, and now this happens.
"In the meantime, I have instructed (Coventry promoter) Colin Pratt and some of the riders to go to Reading. We are ready to race this meeting, and do not accept the reason for the postponement."

Obviously it is recommended that supporters do not waste time and money travelling to Reading tonight, and it will be interesting to see how this matter develops and is resolved.

With the postponement of last weeks matches against Ipswich due to the severe weather conditions, the next scheduled meeting is due this thursday when the Bees are away at Peterborough.
