The British Olympic Association has announced that players from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be eligible for selection to an Olympic football team.

The decision comes after talks with all the home nations who were concerned about losing their national identity with FIFA. However, as the Olympics Football Tournament is a non FIFA ranked tournament, participating in a British team is not going to affect Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland's standing with FIFA as an independent member.

Former Coventry City defender Stuart Pearce has been put forward as the main candidate to manage the Great Britain football mens team in a tournament that will see men and womens matches played in Coventry at the City Of Coventry Stadium.
