Singers FC Founder Headstone Appeal

An appeal to raise £2,000 has been launched to pay for headstones for Willie Starley who founded Singers FC in October 1883 and his step-brother George Bowers who played for Singers, the fore-runner of Coventry City FC.

Both lie in unmarked graves in London Road cemetery in Whitley.

Stonemason Planet Granite who made the Memorial Garden at the Arena are tasked with making the headstones when the target is achieved.

Lionel Bird who traced Mr Starley's involvement with the club and City supporter Ian Devoy,great grandson of Mr Starley have both pledged £500. Covsupport have also donated £100.
