COVENTRY CITY FC/ SKY BLUE TRUST JOINT PRESS RELEASE
Since the end of last season, the Management at Coventry City has made strenuous efforts both to keep and to sign established players for the first team squad. This has necessitated more finance, and it is hoped to make a real push with the senior squad this season in the Ricoh Arena.

Unfortunately, the delay in the opening of the new Arena has meant that the Club has lost out on a lucrative pre-season fixture that could have brought in substantial revenue. This has led to a shortfall in income. As a result, the continued existence of the Coventry City Academy is today under severe threat.

The Academy, which has in recent times produced players like Chris Kirkland, Gary McSheffrey and Calum Davenport, is in need of urgent financial investment if it is to continue its task of developing homegrown talent for the first-team squad.

It is for this reason that Coventry City Football Club has joined forces with the Sky Blue Trust supporters group to introduce a ‘Save Our Academy’ campaign. This initiative will enable individual City supporters and local businesses to invest in the future of the Football Club.

The Trust will administer the campaign and ensure that all revenue received is properly utilised.

The Academy is the life-blood of Coventry City; to lose it would have devastating repercussions as far as the Club producing its own players is concerned.

Coventry City FC and The Sky Blue Trust are therefore urgently appealing to the generosity of all City supporters to help save the imminent future of our Academy.
