Coventry City Ladies have hit back at claims on the Lincoln City official site that their players were paid £80 a game to win promotion last season.

The site suggests that it was thanks to support from Coventry City FC that the club were able to pay these alleged payments.

CCLFC Secretary Kev Monks said "We take a very dim view of these accusations. No payments were made to players and the players play for us because they want to not for financial reward."

"We would love to receive money from Coventry City FC to allow us to attact the best players in the country but it is not going to happen although we are grateful for the support which is non-financial we receive from Coventry City."
