Coventry has, according to an article in The Guardian, had the strongest sales for the London 2012 Olympics football tournament tickets outside of London.
No figures have been officially announced as to how many tickets have been sold or given to sponsoring companies etc for matches in the non-FIFA ranked tournament at the Ricoh Arena which will be renamed "The City Of Coventry Stadium" during the two weeks of the Olympics next July.
The Guardian also reports that ticket sale have not been good for the bigger stadiums especially for matches in Scotland and Wales with some 1.7m football tickets left unsold and if the London Games Organisers were able to re-draw the schedule, they would have gone 'for smaller cities where international events are more of a novelty'.
Meanwhile, the Team GB football row rumbles on. The statement from the BOA yesterday that players from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland were to be part of the British football teams was met with statements from those countries insisting they had not agreed on any announcement but the latest stance from the BOA is that legally they cannot do anything about it if players such as Spurs Gareth Bale wish to play.
