One of the many visitors to the Ricoh Arena this week was Olympic swimming Gold Medalist and world record holder Kirsty Coventry.

The swimmer was making her first ever visit to the city which bears her name and the Zimbabwean was given a tour of the City including Coventry Baths, met local councillors and stayed at Coventry City FC's Ricoh Arena which will be hosting Olympic football in July 2012.

Speaking to the CT, Kirsty said: "I was due to come here when I was a teenager but I dislocated my knee playing hockey a couple of weeks before and couldn't come.

"My team mates brought me a swimsuit back with the Coventry crest on it which was great.

"I have swum in Manchester before but the itinary didn't let me take enough time out, so while I was over here this time, I wanted to be certain to visit it.

"It has been great. I visited the 50 metre pool and had a tour of the Ricoh Arena. It is obviously a city which has a great sporting and Olympic heritage and they made me feel very welcome indeed."
