Coventry City - A History In 50 Matches

Coventry City London Supporters Club Chairman Jonathan Strange's latest book describes fifty Coventry City matches that have shaped the history of Coventry City FC.
Despite Strange living and working in London, his love and devotion to the team from Lady Godiva's city some ninety plus miles up the M1, clearly shines through and he wonderfully captures not only the feature matches but the season the games were played in as well.
The book which is illustrated throughout with photographs, cartoons starts with Singers FC travelling by bike to play Willenhall Pickwick in the 1891 Final of the Birmingham and District Junior Cup and finishes 114 years later with the FA Cup defeat at Rochdale.
There are memories aplenty for all City supporters as a varied range of matches are released on the reader.
The highs of the 1987 Cup run,the FA Youth Cup final also of that year, the 9-0 drubbing of Bristol City and the great last day escapes from relegation, all intersperse with defeats at the likes of Sutton United, Worcester based Berwick Rangers and Bayern Munich.
Also featured in this tomb of scandal and tragedy are the 4-4 draw at Middlesbrough in 1974 and matches that were rigged.
It's a book that you will want to read again and again.
You can get the book priced at £12.99 and printed by Tempus Publishing Ltd (ISBN number 0 7524 2718 0), by clicking on to the Coventry City London Supporters Club website at http://www.cclsc.co.uk
