Peter Reid has stepped up a bid to take Newcastle United's Stephen Taylor on loan. The 18 year old central defender played for England U21 against Wales but missed out on the Geordies 1-1 draw with Charlton yesterday.
Taylor made two first-team appearances for United last season, coming on as a substitute at Real Mallorca for his debut and starting at Bolton Wanderers.
