Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has insisted that returning to the Premier League represents just the opening step of a long term structural project at the CBS Arena.
Lampard collected the prestigious Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy after being voted the League Managers Association Manager of the Year by his coaching peers, finishing ahead of top flight champion Mikel Arteta after guiding the Sky Blues to the Championship title.
The former England midfielder was praised by Ferguson for installing an attractive, fluid passing philosophy and an immense sense of self belief into a young squad.
Lampard emphasized that the accolade belongs entirely to his backroom staff and players, who dominated the second tier to finish eleven points clear at the summit.
The head coach has already initiated high level talks with the board to secure the recruitment funding needed to establish a competitive presence in the top flight this August.
