Coventry City celebrated their first Premier League victory since 2001 after defeating Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground on Saturday evening.

Frank Lampard's men arrived in the East Midlands having lost their opening four fixtures without scoring a single goal.

The decisive moment arrived in the 55th minute when midfielder Josh Dasilva found space on the edge of the penalty box and unleashed a precise drive past Matz Sels in the Forest goal.

Forest pushed forward in search of an equaliser during the final half-hour, but Coventry's defensive line, marshalled by Aurele Amenda, stood firm.

The victory lifts Coventry off the foot of the table up to 18th place on three points.

Forest manager Oliver Glasner expressed frustration at his side's lack of cutting edge, with them sitting in 13th place with five points from their opening five games.
