Coventry City made it two home wins out of two with a 2-0 win over Carlisle United.

With Rod McDonald suspended, Mark Robins had to give a start to Tom Davies for this game against the Cumbrians whose support was around the one hundred mark.

It was a wet night at the Ricoh on the 60th birthday of Steve Ogrizovic for a game which got underway with City attacking the end where the Carlisle support was.

Duckens Nazon was a handful early on as was James Devitt who forced Burge into a diving save.

Jack Grimmer then played a great ball to Beavon who fired at the keeper. The ball came down the other end and Nicky Adams drove wide of Burge's right hand post.

In the 20th minute. Nazon did well and played the ball back for Liam Kelly. However, under pressure, Kelly could not get a decent touch and the ball went high and wide.

This really was awful stuff with neither side displaying any quality, although Tom Davies, with less Football League experience than many on show, defended well when he needed to.

Jodi Jones who moved out onto the right flank had one chance in the 35th minute that was so wide it went for a throw.

City attacked again and this time, Beavon got in a shot which George saved with his legs as the rain continued to come down.

The away numbers swelled for the second half when two coaches which had been delayed on the M6 due to a crash, arrived at half-time.

Thankfully, they had missed nothing in the first half. However, three minutes into the second, some excellent passing saw the ball threaded through to Duckens Nazon who raced through from a Liam Kelly pass and smashed the ball powerfully into the net.

Vincenti and Grainger both went into Mr Kettle's book before Duckens Nazon went down injured in the 59th minute and had to be replaced by Max Biamou.

Jodi Jones won a corner in the 62nd minute and forced George into a smart stop with his legs before winning a corner that Davies headed wide in front of a crowd given as 6,151, but which looked more like a crowd of around 5,000.

With those actually in the ground doing their best to try and make some noise in support of the Sky Blues, Jones was played in, in the 69th minute but Grainger was back to clear and two minutes later, another attack produced a corner .

Kelly fired at George with fifteen minutes left and Grimmer who had a good game, won a corner which Vincenti headed at George.

In the 79th minute, City were two goals up when the ball came over from the right and Peter Vincenti was left alone at the back stick to volley the ball down and into the net.

The Cumbrians struck the woodwork with seven minutes left against a City side which had an 85th minute corner.

Devon Kelly-Evans came on for the last few minutes which saw Carlisle waste a golden chance with a free header from a corner.

Jones had another good shot at George and Carlisle had one shot in the time added on as did Biamou as City took another win.
