The League 2 leaders came to Town but it was Coventry City who ended Exeter  City's unbeaten run with a 2-0 win.

It was a not too unpleasant day as Coventry City took on an Exeter City side at the Ricoh Arena, going into the game having lost at Cambridge United due to not putting their chances away whilst Exeter arrived at the Ricoh Arena, having carried their form of last season into this one and being top of the league and supported by a very decent following.

Mark Robins initally named a unchanged side. However, Devon Kelly-Evans started in place of Stuart Beavon, who suffered a back twinge, with Marc McNulty coming onto the bench.

The Sky Blues, attacked the end where the home fans were for the first half but it was Exeter, who were the first team to win a corner in the fifth minute.

Peter Vincenti took a knock and needed treatment and in the 21st minute, he had to be replaced by Biamou.

The first time Jodi Jones had a go at the Grecians defence, he sent over a lovely cross which was met by Devon Kelly-Evans whose shot was blocked as was a 24th minute Biamou effort.

Twenty minutes later and Jones had a curling effort saved in what was a very tight affair.

Duckens Nazon fired wide with a right footed shot before the half ended with City able to cancel out any threat posed by the visitors but lacking any spark up front.

The Grecians made a change at the start of the second half which saw Jones on the right firing at Christy Pym.

Jones let rip with another effort in the 50th minute as both sets of supporters in a gate of 8,340, tried to lift the players by making some noise.

Reid volleyed wide in the 56th minute. City went up the other end and won a free kick. Jones took it and it took a deflection off Troy Brown and went into the net to give the Sky Blues a 58th minute lead.

Jones continued to do his best to get City going forward, having a couple of little goes before Nazon fired wide on the turn in the 68th minute.

Boateng came on as a sub and promptly got himself cautioned. The free kick came was and eventually fell for Chris Stokes who hit a rasping drive on to the woodwork in the 74th minute.

Exeter should have had Tillson booked but the referee opted for a lecture instead infuriating some of the City support who were equally riled when Doyle was booked moments later.

Jones won a 77th minute corner and three minutes later the visitors won one. That was clear, Jones broke and with Nazon unmarked to his left, he chose to fire at Pym.

Devon Kelly-Evans, who worked hard all afternoon, took a knock and needed treatment in a game that Biamou should have wrapped up in the 86th minute when he drove wide from ten yards.

Burge saved well from Reid before five minutes were added on.

In the first minute, Jones attacked down the left and crossed and there was Devon Kelly-Evans who smashed the ball home to give City a 2-0 victory.
