Coventry City ended their 2010/2011 home campaign with a 0-0 draw against Reading.

City went into the game, having named Andy Thorn as manager for the next year at least and offering to contracts to seven of their players.

Three of those offered new deals in King, Gunnarsson, and Clarke were named in the eighteen players who were wearing the new home kit for next season which for those yet to see it, is a through back to the City kit of the 1960''s.

They took to the field on a sunny afternoon without Keiren Westwood who had a shoulder injury or is not allowed to play the last two matches so Villa will pay us £2m depending on what you want to believe and with replacement Michael Quirke who reportedly had a pulled muscle in the morning, passing a fitness test and starting in goal.

A bigger crowd thanks to a host of free tickets plus those taking up the offer of half price admission saw Reading needing a point were on the back foot early on against a City side attacking the Jewson Stand for the first half.

Carl Baker had two tame efforts on goal before Gunnarsson let fly and King shot wide.

Reading came back with Jordan Clarke clearing over his own bar and Hunt and Long having two headers and a shot which Quirke dived to his right to save.

Sunbathing was more in order for some of the support in the cheap seats as although Bell and Baker had shots on goal there was little for the supporters to cheer from a City side which has showed of late they have a lot more to offer.

If the passing from the Sky Blues had been better, City could have comfortably been ahead.

Clarke, Clingan and Bell all put in some good crosses only for the Sky Blues to try and pass the ball into the net.

When they did try to shoot, Marlon King, who, was a thorn in the Royals side, had the best effort as the second half recommenced with a 51st minute twenty yard on the turn not far wide and then hit a curler had to be punched away by Federici.

Choruses of the Sky Blue Song and Take Me Home Highfield Road saw King''s pace win a 67th minute corner and Aron Gunarsson went on a great run before the third tackle from former City loanee Matty Mills took him out and gave Clingan a free kick which Federici dived to his left to save.

With ten minutes to go, King had a wonderful shot deflected for a corner which Richard Keogh agonisingly headed wide as both sides settled for a draw.

City on their lap of appreciation.
