Coventry City ended their County Ground hoodoo with a 2-1 win at Swindon Town.

A midweek away outing and considering that many refuse to go to Swindon as they feel the main stand is a death trap and a ground City have not won at in a League game since 1960, the seven hundred of us, who came from Liverpool, the Midlands and a number of points in the South who made it to Wiltshire was a pretty decent turn out.

Mark Robins fielded a City team which was as expected with Devon Kelly-Evans retaining his place in the team and no Peter Vincenti or Stuart Beavon against a Robins side which was without former City defender Chris Hussey and had former City keeper Reice Charles-Cook on the bench.

City started the game, straight on the attack with Biamou just missing a cross and then getting through but having Vigouroux save.

Max Biamou got through again in the third minute and got pulled down by Robertson. A penalty and red card it should have been but the referee waved away the appeals from the livid City players amid a ton of deserved abuse from the City supporters.

City won a sixth minute corner which was headed away and Biamou, wearing odd coloured boots, turned and shot at Vigouroux.

The referee then fell for a dive on the edge of the area by Gordon which thankfully deflected for a corner and promptly cleared with City winning one in the 11th minute.

Swindon took the lead in the 19th minute when the ball came over from the right and Luke Norris was left alone to volley past Lee Burge.

Gordon was the next player to be left unmarked in the 21st minute. Again, City breathed a sigh of relief as he fired very wide.

Nazon smashed a 25th minute shot into the side netting and Jodi Jones tried a long which flew over the bar for a City side which had a 28th minute free kick and then a corner.

In the 32nd minute, Jones went on a great run. The ball came over and there was Michael Doyle to fire into the net from six yards.

Burge saved from Paul Mullin, Swindon had a corner and Jones went down but again no penalty before Nazon who was well offside had the ball in the net.

City worked hard into the first half and could have had a penalty in the third minute of the second half when Nazon was pulled down.

Two corners for City followed whilst the City support accused Swindon of having twelve men including the referee who did book a Swindon player which brought a huge hoot of derision.

A 53rd minute free kick for City led to a corner which just evaded all the City players.

Swindon won a 68th minute corner was headed off the line, although the whistle had gone.

Michael Doyle was pushed in the face by James Dunne who was correctly was red-carded by the referee after he consulted his assistant in front of the main stand, leaving the home side with ten players for the final eighteen minutes.

With fourteen minutes to go, Duckens Nazon got the ball in the middle and made some space before launching a shot which flew into the net from twenty yards.

The City support went ballistic as did the players including Nazon who was booked.

Birthday boy Jordan Shipley came on to replace Jodi Jones before Devon Kelly-Evans fired wide.

One ball whistled past Burge's far post in the 86th minute as Stokes went down and had to be treated for a left shoulder injury which forced him off and saw Tom Davies come on for what was given as seven minutes of stoppage time.

Swindon were denied a clear penalty by a referee who was being abused by both sets of supporters, a clear sign of a bad referee.

However, City worked hard and deserved their win.
