Coventry City went down to a 2-1 defeat at Cambridge United.

A wet Saturday and yet the Sky Blue Army were out in force for a trip to Cambridge United with over 1200 making the journey to a ground where City performances over the years have not been good.

The City support which deserves better than owners more interested in court cases, arrived in Cambridge to see Mark Robins name a side which had Rod McDonald in for the ill Tom Davies.

The noise from the City support early on was excellent as Duckens Nazon got in and fired wide of the right hand post of the goal defended by David Forde whose last appearance against City saw him concede four goals.

Nazon won City a fifth minute corner and Jones sent over a cracking cross two minutes later.

A Cambridge corner came to nothing but the U's attacked again and MIngoia cross and Jabo Ibehre headed home after nine and a half minutes from six yards.

Nazon hit a shot which Forde parried away and Grimmer blasted over with a team header from Vincenti in the 20th minute.

Ibehre headed at Burge, giving City the chance to go up the other end and win a 23rd minute corner.

As the City support abused a mascot who looked like a poor man's Bob The Builder and one who was taken away by a police officer much to our amusement, Cambridge had the better of the chances.

Vincenti got booked, as did Jones before the referee awarded Cambridge a 36th minute corner and another two minutes later.

Jones fired over but in the 41st, Chris Stokes, went down with an left ankle injury.

Haliday got through only to fire over when play resumed and in the first
minute of the three added on, Nazon won a corner.

The second half saw Cambridge unlucky not to have a 52nd minute penalty. City recovered from that. Jones attacked and he found Duckens Nazon who smashed the ball past the hapless Forde to level the game in the 55th minute.

A Jones shot which was handled by Taft was spotted by the City support but not the referee before Jones got back to make a great covering tackle on the hour mark and then fired in a low drive that Forde had to dive to push away.

Two corners for City followed with Forde having to push away a Beavon pile driver in the 65th minute.

Forde was starting to spill shots against a City team which had Nazon booked for dissent.

A Beavon shot was blocked and with 15 minutes left, Forde spilled a Beavon shot.

Cambridge attacked down the left and in the 77th minute, Uche Ikpeazu ran and headed high in the net.

Devon Kelly-Evans and Max Biamou were sent on for the last seven minutes which saw Jones win a corner and Biamou headed wide in front of 1200 City supporters who saw Jones hit the bar with a rasping 89th minute effort from twenty yards.

Forde punched away a Doyle shot and then parried over a Nazon volley.

But it was not enough and City went down to a defeat that would not have been had some of the chances City created were put away.
