Whingy Says Goodbye

Last updated : 23 May 2007 By Covsupport
A gutted Andy Whing has said goodbye to City supporters. Whing who was sponsored by Covsupport last season and has been released by Iain Dowie said to the CT: "It's a great club. "I have been here a long time and I am obviously gutted to be leaving. "I have been away before when I have gone out on loan and done it, and I am now looking forward to a new challenge and fresh start, and hopefully I can do the same as when I went down to Brighton.

"There is no rush but I would like to get something done before pre-season. "I will hopefully talk to a few people and see what happens. "I'd obviously like to stay in the Championship but if I have to drop down I will with a view to making the step back up.

"But hopefully I will be coming back to play at the Ricoh one day and maybe show what I can do. "I just want to go to a club to play a lot of games and be first choice, and work hard wherever I go. I always give 110 per cent and that won't change.

"I am very fond of Coventry because this is the club where it all started for me and where I got my big chance under Gary McAllister who was brilliant for me.

"I broke on to the scene at 18, which is quite young really, and I played a lot of games under him and other managers after him. "It hasn't maybe worked out so much for me in the last couple of years but I have played a lot of games for Coventry and thoroughly enjoyed my time here."
