Coventry City CEO Steve Waggott has praised the City support this season.

Writing in his programme notes before the game with Oldham Athletic, Mr Waggott wrote: "We know that this season has not been as we wuld have wanted it to be but one thing has remaining very constant and that has been our very loyal and vocal supporters.

"If you were to ask any club in our division to name the club with the most ardent and supportive following away from home, I'd wager that Coventry would be up there.

"Home and away, our hard core of support has been superb. Of course, we are disappointed with attendances at home, particularly, after making such an impact when we returned to the city, but we know that attractive, winning football is the way to bring people back in numbers, as well as addressing the affordability of watching your team.

"But I cannot praise highly enough those supporters who come week in, week out and backed the players to the hilt.

"Often, when it would have been easy to succumb to pressure and maybe to waver - especially away from home - our supporters have ensured that has not happened. They have not allowed it to happen.

"I have had some lively discussions up and down the country this season but the one thing which has shone through has been the passion and dedication of our supporters home and away."
