Two Awards For King

Coventry City held their annual End Of Season Dinner Awards tonight at the Ricoh Arena.

Although the numbers were down on previous years, there was a still a reasonable turn out.

Those present which for the evening, compèred by Stuart Linnell, included Chairman Ken Dulieu, Igwe Onye, Paul Clouting and John Clarke,

The Chairman thanked all the sponsors and those who have helped
him as well as congratulating Coventry City Ladies on their success.

Mr Dulieu ended saying that season ticket sales were up by 11% and he was pleased by the enthusiasm for the new kit.

City manager Andy Thorn was interviewed by Mr Linnell who mentioned my winning of the Football League Fan Of The Year.Thorn spoke about working under managers Steve Coppell and Bobby Gould.

Thorn said that he would work with the Academy to develop the younger players and he wanted the same sort of success that Norwich have had this season and hoped that his philosophy of getting the players enjoying themselves in their working environment would pay off.

He added that he hopes to carry on producing on the pitch and thanked the supporters for their support.

Matt Le Tissier was the guest speaker and immediately pointed at an empty table and asked if it was Aidy Boothroyd's!

Le Tissier spoke amusingly about his career which was certainly impressive.

Former Players Association Award - Dave Bennett
Player of the Year - Richard Keogh
Community Player Of The Year - Carl Baker
Top Goalscorer - Marlon King
Fans Player Of The Year - Marlon King
Manager's Young Player - Lukas Jutkiewicz
Goal Of The Season - Gary McSheffrey away to Burnley.
Outstanding Contribution Award - Jimmy Hill.
Many people including a good number of players shot off as soon as the awards and missed the band which finished off a good evening.
