Jay Tabb, who left Coventry for Reading in 2009, could be fit again to face his old club on Bank Holiday Monday.

Tabb sprained his ankle a week ago playing against Leicester City in a hefty challenge on the Foxes Richie Wellens.

It is almost certain he won't be fit enough to even be on the bench ob Saturday for Reading's away game at Ipswich, but he might be fit enough to take a place on the substitutes bench on Monday when his old club Coventry City visit The Madjeski Stadium.

Reading's assistant manager Nigel Gibbs said, “We’re hoping that Jay will be back in training sometime this week, which is earlier than we expected so that’s good news. Elsewhere Kalifa Cisse had a little setback, but he’s back now.”

Reading, who had an appalling start to the season, but are currently the in form team of the Championship and are storming up the league table with ambitions of taking a play off place, could also be without Czech Republic midfielder Marek Matejovsky for the next two games. He has a mystery abdominal injury.

He has been out of action since February and has made just 15 appearances this season.

Gibbs said, “Marek's not been quite 100 per cent of late. It's a difficult injury for us to assess, but he’s OK."
