Coventry City's 0-0 draw at Colchester moved the Sky Blues up to 14th place in the Championship table. With the top two having played each other on Friday night, Sunderland went third with a 2-0 win at Barnsley. At the other end, bottom side Leeds caught up some ground with a 1-0 win over Luton who have fallen into the bottom three. Elsewhere,there were wins for Cardiff,Palace,Hull,Southend and Stoke with QPR drawing with Sheffield Wednesday.

Former Sky Blue Gavin Strachan netted in a 4-0 win for Peterborough against MK Dons. George Boateng scored for Middlesbrough in an FA Cup tie but gave away a penalty which saw Manchester United leave the Riverside with a 2-2 draw.
Locally, Nuneaton Borough were beaten 1-0 at home by Moor Green. Danny Davidson scored in the last minute. Rugby Town lost 3-1 at home to Clevedon and Bedworth United were beaten 2-1 at home by Bromsgrove Rovers.

In the Midland Alliance, leaders Leamington did not play but Stratford won 2-0 at home to Barwell.Racing Club Warwick lost 4-0 at Biddulph with Atherstone drawing 0-0 at Oldbury United.

Super Coventry Sphinx remain top of the Midland Combination Premier Division with an 8-1 home victory against Continental Star. Jerome Murdock scored a hat-trick with Craig Martin also adding a brace. Winger Robbie Stevenson could have had a hat-trick after scoring twice but he missed a penalty. Youngster Calum Woodward scored the eighth goal for Paul Charnley's side.

Coventry Copsewood were beaten 2-0 away to Bartley Green in the Endsleigh Challenge Cup Semi-Final first leg whilst league games brought defeats for Alveston,Massey Ferguson and Nuneaton Griff. Southam drew 2-2 at home to Brereton.

Elsewhere,Stockingford won 2-1 at Archdale, Leamington Hibernian drew 0-0 with Burntwood, Warwick Town beat Worcester A, Kenilworth Town KH lost 2-0 at Heather Reserves. Coventry Sphinx Reserves won their Jack Mould Trophy Semi Final 1st leg at Continental Star Reserves 2-0.
