Speak To Supporters Urges Trust

Last updated : 03 April 2008 By Sky Blue Trust

The Sky Blue Trust is asking the new board of Coventry City Football Club to urgently speak with supporters about the current changes that are taking place at their football club.

With key members of staff leaving the Club including the Finance Director and Customer Services Manager, the Trust is concerned that the club are not communicating with supporters on how the merger with ACL will affect supporters and what benefit this will have on the football club and its fans.

Rumours are circulating about changes to a number of key functions including the closure or moving of the ticket office and the outsourcing of all marketing and press and pr, all of which affect supporters. Mr Ranson has often spoken of his vision and plan for the club and we are starting to see the initial impact of this plan. This is why the Sky Blue Trust urges Ray Ranson and Daniel Gidney (Chief Executive of ACL) to talk with supporters about the plans for the future, the new structure and how this merger will benefit both the companies and supporters.

Jan Mokrzycki, Acting vice Chair, from the Trust said:

"It is very disappointing to see this apparent lack of communication with supporters, the lack of consultation and the apparent pulling away from the supporters by the new regime when in every meeting we have had with Ray Ranson prior to the take-over he has stated that the supporters were the number one priority.

Whilst the loss of staff is regrettable it was inevitable during a merger but it appears that it is the club not ACL that is losing staff.

The club needs to understand it has a responsibility to the supporters of Coventry City Football Club and not just with its investors and needs to communicate with the supporters to stop these rumours which are causing unrest"

The Sky Blue Trust are seeking an urgent meeting with the board so that supporters can know what implications these changes have for them

Now is not a time to alienate your "customers" Mr Ranson, embrace them, share your vision and together we can move forward as one.
