Sort Out A Designated Smoking Area

Sort out a designated smoking area, that is the message to Coventry City officials and those involved with Arena Coventry Ltd who are not on the City board.

A fierce debate has erupted from smoking and non-smoking City supporters with fuel to an already blazing fire added yesterday by some exceedingly unhelpful comments from Sue Kingswell, assistant director of Coventry Primary Care Trust whose efforts would be better served by getting the Council to tackle the air pollution in Coventry.

The down side to this debate is that supporters are considering staying away, something CCFC who need an average gate of 22,000 per game to break even, cannot afford to let happen.

As there is no legal ban on smoking in public places, Arena Coventry Ltd can do nothing but be reasonable to both smokers and non-smokers. For the home matches with Reading and Hull City, supporters can smoke only in the confines of the Arena bowl only at half-time and not in the concourses or during the game.

In order to bring a swift resolve to this issue, Covsupport would like to propose that Arena Coventry Ltd research areas in the Arena confines that can be used as a designated smoking area for those wishing to smoke at half-time as soon as is possible.
